Does it get any more cult than one of the original glow getters – Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick.
Bobbi was doing “glow” long before a highlighter was anything more than a neon yellow marker used for destroying textbooks. Despite the overflow of shimmering, illuminating, highlighting products now available the shimmer brick remains a staple in beauty stashes.
While my favourite shade may be Pink Quartz; a coppery rose gold hue, it’s Rose that I’m loving as we near Spring for the prettiest, glowy flush to the cheeks. It’s giving me all sorts of 90’s schooldays vibes lightly swept over the eyelids for a barely there but something there girly look that somehow makes me feel well back on the right side of 30.
I can’t help thinking this would be wedding-wonderful for a delicate bridal look that achieves timeless highlighting that glows but won’t date. It’s subtle, so no strobe effect here. For the hot summer days I’ll be reaching for the shade Bronze to dazzle up my bronzer when cream highlighters will do nothing but melt off, and for warmer skin tones Nectar would be a beautiful coral blush.
Shimmer Brick is the kind of product that needs little fuss made about it – we’ve all tried it. Swirl a big fluffy brush across all the shades and you have the most effortless, shimmery light diffused across your skin.
While I may have got distracted the last few years with the abundance of glowgetters out there, I’m so happy to be reacquainted with one of the originals and the best. Long may she reign.
