Isn’t life just better on a good skin day? These are a few of my current faves for achieving just that. Estee Lauder x VB Morning Aura isn’t new and until it or it’s successor are brought back to shelves I’m reluctant to continue singing it’s praises. But it’s a beautiful base for foundation; moisturising, illuminating and ridiculously luxe feeling in all it’s golden glory. Cue the outrageous price tag. Given it’s limited edition status, a truly good substitute is Bobbi Brown’s Illuminating Moisture Balm, if a touch heavier.
Next up, Chantecaille’s Future Skin. Now this isn’t a wallet-friendly foundation but in my opinion, spend money on your base and save it on your colour products. This beautiful foundation is lightweight and light-medium coverage, but can be built up for more depth. It has a dreamy gel-cream texture and feels fresh, bouncy and barely there on the skin. Some will hate the jar packaging; but with it’s whipped consistency it doesn’t deter me. It’s oil-free, but it you want SPF included you’ll need to turn to their tinted moisturiser ‘Just Skin’ which seems to offer more coverage, despite it’s name, and a slightly heavier texture. Future Skin is a serious winner for me.
Bobbi Brown Foundation Stick is a crowd pleaser. It’s available in three thousand shades (ok, maybe 31) and is creamy and blendable. Whether you want a natural, sheer coverage in select areas or a full-coverage, tv-ready face. It’s perfect for afternoon touch-ups because of it’s stick form, and the fact that it layers well on top of itself. Some days I just like to swirl some onto my fingertips and press it onto my face like Hannah Martin taught me, and others I’ll use a brush to really buff it in. It covers my redness, but can look oily down the t-zone by afternoon so a little powder is needed. Mostly, I just find this foundation easy. There are plenty of shades so you’re guaranteed a match, there’s no messy liquid to spill or excess to waste if you pour too much, and it works even when you don’t have a brush handy, it’s just fuss free. Who doesn’t want that?
